Why does GranSample need microphone access?
The mic is used only when you record a custom sample. You can deny access and still use all other features with factory samples or imported audio.
What audio formats can I import?
WAV, AIFF, M4A, MP3, CAF, and any other format supported by iOS Core Audio.
Can I export my performances?
Yes. Hit the REC button to capture your session, then export it as a WAV file via the share sheet. Audio export is part of GranSample Pro. See Exporting Audio.
How many effects can I use per pad?
Up to 8 per pad, plus 8 on the master bus. All effects can be reordered freely.
Does GranSample support MIDI?
Yes. Trigger pads from any external MIDI controller — USB, Bluetooth, or a virtual port — with velocity sensitivity and per-pad note mapping. MIDI Learn binds any CC to any on-screen knob. Chromatic mode fans one sample across all 16 pads at semitone pitches.
Does it work as an AUv3 plugin?
Yes. Run GranSample inside any AUv3 host — Logic, GarageBand, AUM, Drambo, Loopy Pro — with per-pad parameter automation, host transport sync, and sample loading from inside the plugin. The app and the plugin share one sample library. See GranSample as an AUv3 Plugin.
What do I get for free, and what needs Pro?
Pads 1–8 are free with the full granular engine, effects, mixer, pattern bank, step sequencer, MIDI, and kit import — in the app and in the plugin. GranSample Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that adds pads 9–16, Song Mode, the modulation matrix, Musical Granular, sample chop, kit export, custom backgrounds, Resample, and WAV export.
Restore purchases
If you reinstall the app, switch devices, or already bought Pro on another device signed in with the same Apple Account, open the Unlock screen and tap Restore Purchase. GranSample re-checks your App Store entitlements and re-enables Pro automatically — there is no extra charge.
If the Unlock screen shows "Couldn't load pricing from the App Store," tap Retry; this usually happens on a flaky network or briefly after a price change while the App Store propagates the update.
The purchase also unlocks Pro inside the AUv3 plugin, so you only buy it once. More in GranSample Pro.
