Troubleshooting
No sound, a word that comes out spelled, the AUv3 and how to report a bug.
Check the ring/silent switch isn't on silent and the volume is up. If another audio app is active, restart SpellSynth.
The same goes when a child can see the word but hear nothing: some iOS hosts mute app audio when another audio session is active, so restarting the app usually brings it back.
When a word won't render, SpellSynth says so instead of going quiet. SPELLED IT — COULDN'T SAY means the word was spelled out letter by letter because it couldn't be said whole. CAN'T PRONOUNCE means nothing played. Tap the banner to dismiss it and try again.
A step in the plug-in plays a library word or one that has already been rendered. Type the word into the plug-in's Library field once, or play it in the app, and the step can use it. See SEQ in your DAW.
The extension is an iOS Audio Unit, so it does not appear in Mac versions of GarageBand or Logic. Load it in a host on your iPhone or iPad.
That was a bug in 1.0.3. The bundled voice samples are 24 kHz but the plugin was reading them at the host's rate (typically 48 kHz), which shifted every sound up a full octave. 1.0.5 compensates for the sample-rate mismatch, so the plugin sounds at its intended pitch on any host.
Open Settings (⚙) — the version and build are shown at the bottom.
I read everything. Please write in — even small things are useful. If you've found a bug that blocks you from using the app, mark the subject line [bug] and I'll move faster on it. Please include:
- Device model (iPhone 15, iPad Pro 13", etc.)
- iOS / iPadOS version
- SpellSynth version (Settings (⚙) in the app, at the bottom)
- Steps to reproduce the issue
