What's new
What changed in recent versions of SpellSynth.
- SpellSynth speaks French. Pick
FRANÇAISunderVOICE LANGUAGEin Settings and the voice, the words and the game screens all switch over. - Built after the 1981 French edition of the spelling toy:
ÉPELLE,MYSTÈREandDIS-LEwith 360+ French words, plus an apostrophe key for words like L'ÉCOLE. - Accents show on the display but are never typed — spell ÉCOLE as E-C-O-L-E, just like the original.
- The AUv3 speaks French too: set
LanguagetoFrançais, then type a word or put French words on the SEQ steps. Every vintage voice works in both languages. - In the AUv3, switch-type knobs such as
MIDI Modenow snap to their options, so the knob always matches what the plug-in plays. - The AUv3 no longer ships default MIDI CC bindings, so a host's mod wheel can't pull the pitch down two octaves. MIDI Learn is how you bind a CC.
- The plug-in's knobs now follow host automation and MIDI CC, and SEQ follows the host's stop in more hosts.
- Type anything into the AUv3 and it speaks. The plug-in now synthesises words it has never seen, inside the extension.
- A word rendered in the plug-in is free in the app: both read the same cache.
- Anything already on disk stays instant. Only a genuinely new word pauses, showing
SYNTH...while it renders.
- New SEQ mode, in the app and the AUv3: a 16-step sequencer that speaks one word per step through the chosen voice.
- Type a letter instead of a word and that step uses the pre-recorded alphabet voice. Two new factory presets show both: Robot Chant and Spelling Bee.
FITvarispeeds each word to exactly fill its step.
- Numbers and contractions speak.
- Free Play and Phrase are merged: type a single word or a whole sentence.
- The 1978 LPC voice is cleaner and more even.
